Ychan detects most images that have already been posted. If you try to submit an image that already exists you will be asked if you would like to post a link to the old image in the current thread (unless you are starting a new thread), post the image anyway or do nothing. Posting a link to the old image is preferred as it keeps the database efficient and cross-links relevant threads.

You are encouraged to give artists proper credit by supplying the original URL of the image you are posting in the Image Source field. Tags are a kind of keyword that help associate similar images to one another. Tagging your images lets them get found easier and gives the site a way to make relevant recommendations. You can use standard BBCode to enrich the text of your posts, and even embed images not otherwise allowed (such as image macros) directly into your posts.
